PATENT DATES STAMPED ON REVERSE SIDE OF TOOL
CHRONOLOGY OF PATENT DATES ON TONG TOOLS
(Need help on this.  Your input appreciated.)
Seen so far:
1884-1902??? - Single patent
1902-???? - Two patents, no patent

Tools:
No. 1 - Recapper or "hump" on mould - One patent
No. 1 - Pre-1902 - Two patents*
No. 1 - 1902 version - No patent*
No. 1 - 1902 version - Two patents
No. 2 - Recapper or "hump" on mould - One patent

No. 4 and 6 - 1902 version - Two patents
No. 4 and 6 - 1902 version, Large Frame - No patents
No. 4 Special (removable die) "hump" on mould - One patent
No. 4 Special (removable die) pre-1902, no "hump" - One patent
No. 8 - (pre-1902) One patent , 1902 Two patents - and 1902 No patent (oh boy)
(Based on the above, I believe 1902 was the year they dropped the patent markings)
No. 10, "swinging hook" - No patent
Marlin, all models - No patent

Note: "hump" versions are before the pre-1902 version (no "hump" but no sprue cutter
set screw or mould alignment pins, with the 1902 versions having those improvements)

* These two were just recently (11-18-12) seen on eBay and I am begining to suspect that
there was  no rhyme or reason to Ideal's patent stamping - more like how Ole Jim in the
stamping department felt that day.

A subsidiary of this list is when the capper-on-mould was phased out on the No. 1 and 4
and  . . . the fixed chamber No. 6s ???
